BUDS Trip – Maple Syruping!!

BUDS Trip. We are going to Whitney Farm, just north of Ann Arbor on Friday February 26. In the afternoon, probably leaving about 1:30 or 2pm (return by 5pm).

Whitney Farm looks like a wonderful farm – they have hay, maple syrup, cows, and are transitioning to organic.  One of the farmers is an amazing artist too! They are an wholistic and restoration agriculture adventure.

They will be maple tapping and very likely boiling the syrup while we are there. Please let Robyn Burnham know if you want to come – we can get a van and carpool, but we need a bit of a head count, so we can let the farm know how big a group we are.

JOB OPPORTUNITY – Medical Marijuana Lab

I’m a former geochemist (I interviewed for the Turner postdoc fellowship in the U of M geology department last year), but have now opened a new commercial lab in Ann Arbor. We test medical cannabis for potency and purity using GC-MS and LC-MS and I’m looking for a part time lab tech who would be interested in this type of work.

The person doesn’t need to have too much experience with the analytical instruments but some wet chemistry lab experience would be excellent. I would mainly need them for sample preparation and extraction at this stage. It would be ideal if they already have a valid MI medical marijuana card, but must be willing to get one if not.

I’d like someone who is enthusiastic about working in a laboratory and helping patients get quality medicine. It would be great if they are a student looking for a career in chemistry, as I can offer training in techniques for the analysis of trace components of natural materials as part of the job. Thanks for your time, please call or email me if you have any questions.
